Enhance learning experiences with a visit to the Pioneer Village – 40 historic buildings and artefacts to enjoy.
We can offer tailored programmes to suit what your class or group is learning about or interested in. Our volunteer school teacher can offer a range of educational experiences as a class with times to suit your requirements and different age groups. You are welcome to bring food and drink to enjoy in the village.

Each option is 20mins unless otherwise stated or requested
- Classroom – the children will experience what classrooms were like in the pioneering days.
- Dress up group photo

- Pioneer Laundry Experience

- Guided Tour – Secondary school age only, we usually allow longer for this activity
- Scavenger Hunt – we usually allow longer for this activity
- Train ride – approx. 15 minutes carries approx 20 students with supervising adults

School Visits
Pioneer Village School Teacher
The Village school teacher offers a range of educational experience as a class with times to suit your requirements. With Lessons, Dress up & games, 1900s activities to suit different groups & ages, we are able to customise your learning experience to meet the children’s needs and learning outcomes.
Train Ride
The Pioneer Express takes you on a journey twice around the Village. Bookings essential; the train carries 20 children with supervising adults.
